Check valve classification:

Limitations on the use of check valves
When the high temperature and high pressure condensate is discharged to a lower pressure area through the trap, a certain amount of flash steam will be generated. If the flash steam flows into the recovery line filled with low temperature condensate, the flash steam will transfer its latent heat to the condensate. The water thus condenses rapidly, creating water hammer. In this case, installing a check valve will not work.
The check valve prevents backflow and does not reduce back pressure. It does not allow condensate to drain from low pressure areas to high pressure lines. Even if the shut-off valve is installed after the trap, if the primary pressure is less than the secondary pressure, the condensate cannot be discharged.
In addition, it is also important to note that if a check valve is installed after a trap with a very small pressure difference, the check valve itself will also become a resistance point (ie the check valve also has a pressure loss), so the calculation of pressure drop requires pay attention.
The check valve is only a valve that guides the one-way flow of water, and is not an effective device to prevent backflow pollution. This concept is the principle of choosing a check valve or a pipeline backflow preventer. The pipeline backflow preventer has the function of a check valve, but the check valve does not have the function of the pipeline backflow preventer, so after the pipeline backflow preventer is installed, there is no need to set a return valve.
