What is a Parallel Sliding Gate Valve?

Sliding gate valves are linear motion valves for full bore fluid flow without any directional changes. They are designed to provide an efficient method of controlling the flow of free-flowing dry bulk materials. It is an ideal valve for conveying and interrupting fluid movement, mainly for crude oil, natural gas pipelines, petrochemical oil depots, and other pipelines in industrial processes. The faces of this type of valve are mostly parallel, so they are often referred to as parallel sliding gate valves. They are usually fully open or fully closed and are usually not used to regulate flow. However, a gate valve can also be installed at the outlet of the oil pump to regulate and control the flow of fluid.

Parallel gate valves are used to control flow pressure, while wedge gate valves are the most commonly used and allow tight shutoff of the fluid. It is characterized by compact structure, reliable closing and good sealing performance, and can be used in high differential service or heat treatment occasions. Parallel gate valves can be driven by handwheels, electric motors, pneumatics and hydraulics.

A parallel sliding gate valve is a gate valve that uses two discs to control the flow of fluid. These valves are suitable for opening and closing fluid flow applications, but are not suitable for throttling. Parallel slide gate valve manufacturers design the valve with a floating seat for automatic pressure relief. The seat automatically resets when pressure is released. The advantages of using a parallel slide gate valve are durability, versatility, high strength, low pressure drop, zero fluid leakage, less wear, and ease of installation, assembly, operation and maintenance.
